Diving from a Live-aboard dedicated dive expedition vessel has many advantages for
the diver whose primary reason to travel is the maximization of their diving opportunities.
Live-aboard’s have the ability to take their guests to remote dive sites beyond
the local day trip range. Diving places never seen by the day diver, you will see
the best dive sites without crowds and be able to stay on a site for multiple dives
without returning to dock after each dive. The “Sea Dragon” sits right over the dive
site. Being self contained with all amenities you simply step out on the dive deck,
put on your gear and enter the water. Returning from your dive, just set your gear
back on the dive tank rack for an air refill, have a short rest, some refreshments
and you are ready to start your next dive. Usually 4 dive opportunities (plus night
dives) are available each day. For variety, shore trips to remote islands, uninhabited
beaches, or remote island communities are available daily. Basically the Live-aboard
experience is an all inclusive program with a double occupancy shipboard cabin, all
meals, drinks, snacks, diving, and expedition expenses. Normal extra’s will be your
air travel and taxi to meet the vessel, plus your first nights meal at a local restaurant,
and any souvenir purchases you would make during shore visits before or after we
depart port. What not to expect from a live-aboard dive trip would be tourist style
night life (except and only if desired, the port nights at the beginning and end
of a trip), the ala cart expenses (meals etc.) you would have on a shore based dive
trip and the time wasted being bused or taxied from your hotel to the dive shop and
day boat rides out to and return from a local dive site. You also miss the hassle
of moving your dive gear from the day dive boat to a shore locker after every day
trip.
On a “Sea Dragon” live aboard dive expedition expect to maximize your diving, enjoy
hearty home cooked meals, explore remote islands, or relax and read a book while
the vessel crosses to the next remote island dive site. During the evenings have
a quiet night viewing the stars or a night of conversation and cards/board games
with other guests. Dive as much as you wish and have a relaxing enjoyable time as
our guests.
WHAT TO BRING ON YOUR DIVE TRIP
On a live-aboard dive Expedition you will need very little beyond the basics of dive
gear and a minimal amount of extra clothes. Most of the day time is spent diving.
Tee shirts, shorts and swim suits are basic living attire. Sun glasses, a large
brim hat, sun screen and water sandals complete the basic ensemble. A couple of
beach towels, a wrap or sun dress and seasonally a track/lounge suit or light jacket
would by useful. Personal items and medications should be added to your list Don’t
