- Decide as far in advance as possible when you would like to make
your dive expedition. Remember that holidays and prime vacation
periods will be filled up first, sometimes as far as a year or more in
advance. You might wish to determine some alternate dates, as well.
- Decide if you wish to charter the entire boat or join another
charter. See the charter dates for availability of single
or double slots.
- Identify your charter's divers. Divers must be open-water
certified or accompanied by an instructor.
- Decide how many days you wish to charter the R/V Sea Dragon
. We recommend an 8:00 pm Eastern US Time boarding. Arrival and
Departure days are not counted as Charter days.
- Call or write to determine if the dates you want are open for
charter. If your dates are available, Sea Dragon staff
will forward you a contract with all the terms and dates spelled out
carefully.
- Forward 10% deposit along with your signed contract (three
copies!) back to the Sea Dragon staff. This is an ideal time
to get deposits from the divers (we recommend $200 each) to insure their
participation in the trip. One copy of the signed contract will be
returned to you.
- Note that your participation on a Sea Dragon charter
is not reserved until the contract and deposit are received by Sea
Dragon staff.
- Fly commercial airlines to Nassau, Bahamas. See below
for travel assistance. Nassau flights are often considerably less
expensive than flights to other Caribbean islands. Note that Conception
Island divers might fly to Georgetown, Bahamas. Contact the boat to learn
if this is a better option for you.
When You Arrive in Nassau
- Gather all your luggage. If it has been lost,
strongly consider waiting for the next flight if you are flying
earlier in the day.
- Aggregate your group and get a taxi. Rates are
much better. Of course, with enough diving gear, you might
require two taxis.
- Drive to the Nassau Harbour Club. The taxi driver knows where
it is, just on the far side of the bridge to Paradise Island on the main
road. Larger groups pay approximately US$7/person plus gratuity. The
fee for one person runs as high as US$25 plus gratuity.
- Find the "R/V Sea Dragon." Either the information desk (just
inside the door) or head down the circular stairway, out the door to the
marina, just left to the leftmost pier, and look for the boat near the
end of the pier.
